Ellen Allien will take centre stage at this weekend’s MELT Festival takeover. The Berliner is one of techno most respected selectors, and you can expect a set the warps through time, and touching on everything from industrial to acid.

You have sincere affection for your hometown Berlin but you once lived in London too. What are the differences and similarities between the two capitals party scene?

“Ohhh – London is just fun to play. The parties are shorter than in Berlin where the clubs open for 2 days straight at a weekend. So this makes the crowd run into the club and the party is on immediately! I play from 3:35 till 5:15pm. Let’s rave early and intensely.”

What are you looking forward to about playing at Printworks London?

“The location is fantastic, industrial locations are the perfect match with my sound. My first gig was in a venue like this. I can’t wait!”

What else have you got in the pipeline for 2017 from yourself and label?

“I will soon be able to reveal a big project that I have been working on for a some time that is due ahead of summer.  My label BPitch Control has an EP from Alan Oldham with some very dirty tracks. Also don’t miss our Sunday raves in Berlin at IPSE starting from the 30th of April every two months during the summer.”

How would you describe your sound in three words?

“Hypnotic, Allien, Dance.”

Name one track that remind you of London…
